Matrix Games and Destroyer Studios (www.starshatter.com) are excited to release of an update for Starshatter: The Gathering Storm which will give gamers the ability to use their Track IR headsets while whizzing through space and blowing up baddies! Track IR is an advanced technology by Natural Point that allows gamers to freely move their heads to adjust their view of the screen when in a 3D game. By clipping a small device to their headphones or headset, players will have the X, Y, and Z axis of their head movement tracked while the Track IR Enhanced game updates their view in real time.

A tune-up and some tweaking to keep this space combat simulator working like a well-oiled star cruiser

Matrix Games and Destroyer Studios are proud to announce that their space combat simulation and real time strategy blend, Starshatter: The Gathering Storm, has been updated. The update brings a variety of fixes and some additional realism and balance tweaking. Most notably, excessive fighter fuel usage is now more reasonable and thrusters use fuel more realistically. The update also addressed and improved the AI related to recovery and queuing of inbound fighters.

The new gameplay movie includes no cinematics or added effects: every torpedo detonation or exploding ship was captured during actual gameplay. Apart from the standard dogfighting possible with smaller vessels, the movie also includes footage of the awesome firepower packed into larger frigates and capital ships. As the saying goes, the bigger they are, the harder they fall - and these space-based behemoths are no exception! Having taken enormous amounts of punishment, the sight of a massive space battleship exploding is a sight that even the most seasoned fighter pilots can't help but just pause and watch.
