Type: Press Release

Matrix Games  and Slitherine (www.slitherine.com) are excited to announce the release of Close Combat: Panthers in the Fog, the latest release in the amazing tactical strategy Close Combat series.

Close Combat: Panthers in the Fog will focus on one of the pivotal moments of the break-out from Normandy in 1944 by the Allies: the German armored counterattack at Mortain. Panthers in the Fog gives the player strategic level command of their forces, issuing orders to regiments and battalions to defend or attack while allocating artillery and air support for them. Engagements move into the tactical level, where your decisions have huge consequences. Only the best-equipped and trained troops can face an advancing Panther, but a Panther with no fuel or ammo becomes as harmless as a kitten. These decisions can directly affect who controls the battlefield at the strategic level!

Being the first new Close Combat in years, Close Combat: Panthers in the Fog has received all-star treatment to make it the best one in the series! Graphically, Close Combat: Panthers in the Fog has been updated from 16-bit to 32-bit graphics, for much richer detail on units and terrain, especially in animations. Also packed into this outstanding title are 35 linked battlefields that are played on a tactical level, as well as being part of a strategic layer that is affected by weather, long-range interdiction, and more.

Close Combat: Panthers in the Fog includes more than 50 historically-accurate key units and 47 weapon types that are rendered in incredible detail in sight and sound. Wargamers can command up to 21 squads in a battle against the challenging AI or against friend (or foe) via Slitherine’s integrated lobby system for easy matchmaking.
