Posted: Thursday, June 10, 2010 by Sean Drummy

Type: Press Release

The second of several tutorial videos is now available for prospective commanders

Matrix Games (www.matrixgames.com), Slitherine Strategies (www.slitherine.com) and Panther Games (www.panthergames.com) are pleased to release to the public the second tutorial video for the highly anticipated new World War II strategy game, Command Ops: Battles from the Bulge.

Command Ops: Battles from the Bulge is the pinnacle of historical accuracy and realism in operational command wrapped in a very playable and modern interface that includes an extremely capable AI opponent as well as editing tools to make your own maps, scenarios and units. So far, Battles from the Bulge has enjoyed a strong positive initial reaction from the press, scoring an impressive 9 out of 10 on Eurogamer.dk!

The second tutorial video, entitled Assess, Plan, and Order, gives players details on the crux of Battles for the Bulge: how to evaluate key battle factors, prepare a plan of attack, and order units in battle. In addition, be sure to check out the first tutorial video, Getting Started, and the general information video, Game Concepts – both of which are available for download from the official product page.

David Heath, Director of Operations at Matrix Games, said “Command Ops: Battles from the Bulge has been met with acclaim from both gamers and the press thus far and we’re confident the praise is just getting started. The meticulous work and admirable effort put into Battles from the Bulge represents the highly popular latest and greatest title in an already award-studded series of games!”

Assess, Plan, Order and React – The Decisions are Yours!

Acclaimed developer Panther Games brings us to the bitter cold of Western Europe during the Winter of 1944 with Command Ops: Battles from the Bulge.  Although the Battle of the Bulge is ground that has been visited by wargamers before, it has never been done with this level of fidelity and historical accuracy.  The most advanced and realistic model of command decision-making implemented to date in a commercial wargame, combined with thorough historical research on the battlefields and forces involved in this campaign sets Command Ops: Battles from the Bulge apart from the competition.

Set during the hard fighting of the Battle of the Bulge, Command Ops lets gamers assess, plan, order and react at the operational level just like a real Corps, Division and Brigade commander. Hundreds of hours of gameplay await armchair generals who will be challenged to fight their way across 27 scenarios that stretch from the initial German surprise offensive to the powerful Allied counter-attack.

Command Ops: Battles from the Bulge also sports some of the most advanced and impressive AI ever devised in an operational-level wargame!  It is your choice whether to manage every detail of your army, or have the friendly AI manage the war on a lower level while you plan the larger scale maneuvers designed to make short work of your enemy.  Just as a historical commander, you can choose where you need to step in and when you need to stand back and let your subordinates do their jobs.

The enemy AI will use its skill to launch well-timed and coordinated strikes as it probes your lines for weakness while realistically reacting to your movements!  In addition, for the enthusiastic mod community awaiting Command Ops, powerful tools like MapMaker and ScenMaker allow for the creation of maps and scenarios further adding to already near limitless replayability.

War in the West: Operation Torch gets a release date!

Thursday, August 27, 2015

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West is unprecedented in its historical depth, detail and scope among computer wargames that depict the entire Western Front of World War II both on land and in the air.  War in the West is a “monster game” by any measure, but retains the ease of play that made its predecessor, War in the East, a classic.

Nevertheless, 2by3 Games has not been resting on their laurels. The team was eager to add more material and many improvements to the game. The result of all these efforts is Operation Torch, a stunning expansion that covers not only the eponymous operation by the combined forces of the Western Allies against the Afrika Korps after El Alamein, but also much more!
