Panzer Command: Operation Winter Storm Updated!

Published on November 16, 2006

The new v1.13 update contains a number of exciting new features based on player requests as well as several fixes.  The addition of unit icons that show nationality and unit type will make units much easier to find, even in wooded terrain.  Placement rules have also been made more flexible and an after-battle map review has been added to the end of each scenario.  In addition, a new tutorial scenario and a 22 page tutorial guide have been added to help new players get used to the game.  Some performance improvements and eight fixes round out the update.

We recommend that all Panzer Command: Operation Winter Storm players update to this release immediately.  This update also applies to the recently released retail version of Panzer Command, which is at the v1.12 level out of the box.

Panzer Command: Operation Winter Storm is a 3D simultaneous turn based strategy game where you command either the Soviet or German forces during the desperate attempt to reach the encircled German 6th Army at Stalingrad.  Each side has detailed 3D units of the historical vehicles and squads, from Panzer IIIs and T-34s to PanzerGrenadiers, Artillery and Air Strikes.  Two campaigns (one German, one Soviet) tie the scenarios together, allowing core units to progress from battle to battle, gaining experience, medals and special abilities. A point system allows players to “purchase” additional units for each mission in the campaign as well as replace losses, forcing decisions on management of resources.

Panzer Command: Operation Winter Storm is also the first 3D tactical WWII game where the unit and weapon data as well as the unit art is stored in easily accessible open formats to enable mod support and customized scenarios and campaigns post-release.
