Take Command in Napoleonic Europe’s Struggle for Power! Matrix Games and Western Civilization Software (www.west-civ.com) are pleased to announce that they will be bringing the Napoleonic-era strategy game Crown Of Glory to gamers around the world. Two hundred years after the start of the Napoleonic Wars, Crown Of Glory gives you a chance to change history as the ruler of a nation.

Choose your leader from eight major powers (France, Britain, Austria, Prussia, Russia, Turkey, Spain, and Sweden) and interact with over ninety computer-controlled minor nations.  Every effort has been made to bring you as thorough a simulation of the Napoleonic Era as is possible, from as early as 1799 to as late as 1820, from the dockyards of Lisbon to the frozen wastes of Holy Mother Russia.

David Heath, Director of Operations for Matrix Games stated, “Crown of Glory is truly a revolutionary game for the Napoleonic genre.  The designers and developers have left no stone unturned in realizing their vision of historically immersive and exciting gameplay.  Even if you’ve never looked at a Napoleonic game before, don’t miss this one!”

A turn-based structure allows you to play at your own pace, deciding on the military, diplomatic, economic and social paths of your nation, including treaties, trade routes and levying and supplying military units.  While your armies march across a worldwide map with monthly turns, battles will allow you to play at a smaller scale, where turns last twenty minutes and your units can be arranged into battlefield formations.  Battles can be auto-resolved or fought out on a detailed battlefield map.  Each unit has its purpose on the battlefield, with such diverse troops as Jagers, Cossacks, Janissaries and Horse Artillery all modeled for individual strength and morale ratings and each beautifully rendered and animated.

Eric Babe of Western Civilization Software said, “We’re excited to join the strong Matrix Games strategy and wargaming line-up.  We feel that the community and experience Matrix has built in this genre will help us to reach strategy gamers worldwide with our vision of what a great Napoleonic game should be.”

Historical leaders, special abilities, fleets, upgrades, reinforcements, colonialism, guard units and a variety of simulated events, from weather to time of day, give Crown Of Glory a unique style.  Combining Strategy and Tactics in one design, Crown Of Glory offers every gamer an opportunity to test his strength in an age of legends.

War in the West Update to V. 1.00.21 and Operation Torch Beta announced!

Monday, March 23, 2015

“The enemy must be annihilated before he reaches our main battlefield. We must stop him in the water, destroying all his equipment while it is still afloat!”(1944 - Erwin Rommel)

The definitive wargame of the Western Front is updated to version 1.00.21! New contents and features are now fully integrated to give the game a more detailed perspective. For instance Italian reinforcements are now allowed prior to July 43 (in the past they were not allowed until after Italy had surrendered) and with this version it’s more difficult to reach very high interdiction values.

The list is very long, so be sure to check the full changelog here.

The patch can be downloaded here

But this time the good news is not finished, because alongside the update we are very happy to announce that an expansion of the base game focused on the attempts of the Allies to open a second front in Europe prior to Overlord is now ready to enter the beta phase! And we ask players to help us test it by enlisting for the beta here

Operation Torch includes 10 diverse scenarios for an extensive coverage of the African and Western European theaters between late 1942 and 1945 including both historical and what-if operations.

Friday, March 20, 2015

Good news soldiers!

As the release date is approaching, we think it’s high time to share more visuals and information about Order of Battle: Pacific. There’s no better way than a comprehensive AAR to delve into details and see what the game can really offer. We are in December 1941 and the Japanese army is starting its invasion of the Philippines.  Only few US units are available in this sector and have no chance of repelling the enemy. However, they can surely delay them. And the longer they resist, the better the US army will be able to strike back! But will Dave and Lukas cooperate effectively during 20 stressful turns?

Brother against Brother gets a release date!

Wednesday, March 18, 2015

"The time for war has not yet come, but it will come, and that soon; and when it does come, my advice is to draw the sword and throw away the scabbard." (Stonewall Jackson, Confederate General)

Following up on the success of their last foray into the American Civil War, the development team behind the award-winning “Forge of Freedom” have returned to the period at the tactical level. Brother against Brother: The Drawing of the Sword, the latest new wargame from Western Civilization Software, is finally ready to march. Indeed, this epic military strategy game covering the first year of the American Civil War will be available on April 16th!

It is 1861.  Nearly a million armed Americans face each other along a line stretching 1200 miles from Virginia to Missouri.  Tensions in the country reach a climax when Confederate forces fire upon a key Union fort in South Carolina in April. This is the starting point of a bloody four year conflict between the North and the South that would leave an indelible mark on American history.

In Brother against Brother: The Drawing of the Sword, the focus is on the opening battles of the American Civil War. Players will be able to command both sides and relive the major encounters of 1861 and early 1862. Thanks to extensive historical and topographical research, including in-person examinations of each battlefield and consultations of materials previously unavailable to game-designers, the maps and orders of battle each have been recreated at an unprecedented scale and level of detail.
